How Game of SKATE works in the app
The game you already play at the park, by video, with anyone, anywhere. Set a trick, they match it, misses spell SKATE.
Game of SKATE is the oldest game in skateboarding. One skater sets a trick, the other has to land the same trick. Miss it and you take a letter. Spell S-K-A-T-E and you lose.
The app plays the same game by video, so your opponent can be across town or across the world.
A turn, step by step
- Challenge someone. Pick a friend, choose the rules and send the invite with a link.
- Set a trick. Lock the trick you are going to do, then film it with the app's camera.
- They match it. Your opponent gets days to film the same trick, so the game fits around school, work and rain.
- Letters. A missed match is a letter. The first to spell SKATE loses the game.
Why one take, in the app
Every attempt is filmed in the app, in one take. Nobody can upload a clip from last summer, and nobody can film ten tries and send the best one. That is what makes a win count.
No signal at the spot?
Film anyway. The clip is saved on your phone, marked as recorded without signal, and sent on its own when you are back online.
Fingerboards too
You can play the same game with a fingerboard. Choose it when you set up the challenge, and those games keep their own record.
